Testimonials
Of course we could go on and on listing all of the great reasons to work for Follett, but we'd like for you to hear it from those who have grown and developed their careers with us. Success stories in action, so to speak.

Steve, Store Manager
Career Path:

Sales Associate
Loss Prevention Agent
Manager in Training
Assistant Store Manager
Store Manager

"During college, I worked at the University of Cincinnati bookstore as a sales associate/cashier and loss prevention agent. My experience in these two positions made me realize that I wanted to continue my career with Follett as a Manager in Training (MIT). I was able to train at a high volume store which prepared me to run my own store. The MIT program was a great experience and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of such an elite program.

As the textbook industry changes, we have to adapt to those changes. My experience at UC and the MIT program expanded my knowledge of Follett's day-to-day operations, and I still continue to learn new things each day in my new role as a Store Manager. I am thankful that Follett provides opportunity for its associates to learn and grow."

Sheree, Assistant Store Manager
Career Path:

Accounting Clerk
Assistant Store Manager

"I joined Follett over 10 years ago as a temp and did not anticipate such a rewarding career. My days, as challenging as they can get, are always satisfying knowing that I have the unequivocal support from the staff. Their commitment makes the execution of my tasks seamless. Also, each associate is a valued stakeholder in improving our brand and all levels of management works harmoniously to achieve this. Follett's culture fosters a cohesive, welcoming, family atmosphere and encourages associates to act with integrity, creativity, innovation and commitment. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities I am faced with every day as an Assistant Store Manager."

Jacqui, Assistant Buyer
Career Path:

Sales Associate
Part-Time General Merchandise Field Assistant
General Merchandise Field Assistant
Assistant Buyer

"While in college, I was looking for an opportunity to work a retail job close to campus, and what could be better than an on-campus bookstore where I could use my Merchandising and Business degrees! I started as a temporary associate working during rush and buyback season, eventually moving to part time my senior year until my manager told me about an opening at our local home office. By spring I was working part time as a Field Assistant at home office and hired full time upon graduation. It was great having a job right out of college where I was actually using my degrees and learning about a market that really fit my personality and interests. About a year after I started full time, I was promoted to an assistant buyer position where I continue to learn more about the collegiate market and have the opportunity to really challenge myself.

Working at Follett has been an amazing opportunity not only getting to know and work with some fabulous people, but also learning the ins and outs of a complex corporate company. I have been able to dabble in different departments ranging from books and school supplies, to apparel and gifts while gaining a wide range of computer and analytical skills. Follett does a great job of challenging their employees to learn every aspect of the business and preparing them to exceed in new positions within the company."

Sheng, Marketing Manager
Career Path:

Field Marketing Representative
Integrated Marketing Specialist
Marketing Manager

"It’s rare to find an employer who truly offers a person so many opportunities for professional growth as Follett.   When I began my Follett career as a Field Marketing Representative, I was a completely new to the industry.  The management team and my fellow associates supported me in learning the business.  As my skill set grew, I went from supporting a handful of stores in Florida, to transitioning to the home office as a Marketing Specialist supporting dozens of more stores.  Now I find myself in the National Marketing Manager role passing my knowledge to others and learning something new literally each day. There is unlimited opportunity at Follett as long as you have the will to want it."

"Throughout my years at Follett, I have had nothing but encouragement from fellow co-workers and managers. All of these individuals were an instrumental part in the development of my leadership skills. I think of my first day as a temporary associate and see how far I have come and all of the support I had to get here. It is great to be a part of tremendous team that values each and every one of us. Technology is always changing. With these changes, Follett does its part to keep up with the tech savvy student. It is exciting to see Follett's new systems, launch, grow, and make lives easier."

"The opportunities with Follett are second to none. Every senior manager with FHEG encourages career growth and ambition. Though job performance and management expectations are very high, Follett offers unparalleled support at all levels within the organization. Ultimately, the sky's the limit - you will only be held back by yourself."

Jose, Course Materials Manager
Career Path:

Course Materials Manager

"I came to Follett late in my career in 2007 but it has been the perfect fit for this period of my life. In my role as a Course Materials Manager, I have the opportunity to be part of the process of preparing today's students to become tomorrow's leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, doctors or whatever career they wish to embark on. Also, this position allows me to be part of FHEG's dynamic, committed vision to be part of the solution within higher education. Follett is committed to adapting and evolving with the many developing technologies and brings the best possible resources, the best services to colleges, universities and its students. I am glad to have been given the opportunity to be part of such a challenging and highly rewarding experience. My position is a perfect compliment as it gives me the opportunity to help influence a better future at the collegiate level. A perfect fit indeed."

Scott, Supervisor, Accounts Payable
Career Path:

Accounts Payable Temp
Accounting Clerk 2
Accounts Payable Representative 1
Accounts Payable Representative 2
Accounts Payable Team Lead
Accounts Payable Supervisor

"I came to Follett expecting it to be yet another short term temporary assignment. What I received was so much more than that, a career that was both rewarding and challenging. From the beginning, I have felt like I belonged here which is very different from the feeling you get from other temp jobs. I also like the constant change and challenges that occur on a daily basis.

What I have liked most here, however, was being rewarded for your efforts. From career advancements due to hard work to receiving a Follett Values in Action award within my first year of full time employment, it's nice to know that your hard work does not go unnoticed and it doesn't matter where you may lie on the "corporate ladder." All rungs of the ladder are important and anyone within the company can be recognized for their hard work."

Jeff, Systems Analyst, Information Technology
Career Path:

Intern, Human Resources
Generalist, Human Resources
Manager, Human Resources
Senior Analyst, Operations
Systems Analyst, Information Technology

"As a college student, I was introduced to FHEG's Senior Vice President of Human Resources when she was the keynote speaker during a Society for Human Resources Management event. Her passion and enthusiasm for Follett convinced me that FHEG was the kind of company that I wanted to work for. After completing multiple projects as an intern, a position opened up for a Human Resource Generalist, and I joined the HR team full-time.

Follett truly is a company full of opportunities. From HR Generalist, I was promoted to HR Manager where I was able to travel and assist with new store transitions, as well as return to school for my MBA with the assistance of Follett's tuition reimbursement program. As my career progressed, I had the opportunity to join the operations team as a senior operations analyst responsible for the implementation and management of Follett's new workforce management system. Having enjoyed the technical aspect of implementing a new system, I was promoted into the IT department as a systems analyst. I am currently supporting our course materials management system as well as the development of other internal applications.

Working for Follett has provided me with the resources and opportunities that have supported my desire to work in multiple functional areas of the business in continually expanding roles. With endless training options and a true commitment to each and every associate, Follett is genuinely a great company to work for."

Tim, Inventory Analyst Career Path:

Temporary Store Associate
Sales Associate/Cashier
Text Manager Trainee
Textbook Manager
Account Representative
Inventory Analyst

"Like so many Follett associates I have met over the years, I started out as a college student looking for a part-time job. Since then I have had the great fortune of working with strong mentors several times during my career. With their guidance and support, at each stage of my career I have also been preparing for the next step, sometimes before I even knew what it would be. I have been truly impressed with how deeply mentoring is a part of Follett's culture.

When I graduated from college, I was encouraged to apply for the Course Materials Manager in Training program—and joining it was one of the best decisions I ever made. For several months I was based out of a single store and had the opportunity to learn the textbook cycle from beginning to end. I also traveled to several other stores around the country. It was a fantastic opportunity and helped me learn to embrace challenges and quickly step into new roles.

I am also grateful that Follett has offered such a range of different opportunities at different stages of my career. Through positions in stores and the home office I have developed skills in fields as diverse as communications and public speaking to data analysis. This has opened even more doors and allowed me to become a more well-rounded person than I was when I started with Follett."

"Working with a diverse group of associates in the warehouse has taught me the meaning of teamwork, dedication, and accountability. The management team works together and we have all grown and developed in so many areas. They permitted me to take risks and let me experiment with different innovative ideas to help manage my department. Today I am blessed to celebrate 25 years with Follett and excited about the opportunities that our new state of the art distribution center will provide. Follett has been a great place to learn and grow while always demonstrating our Follett Values."
