Job Description:
The intern will perform assigned duties under the direction of an experienced professional, and will work in a learning environment and gain knowledge and experience that will augment his/her college education.
- Paid, hourly, full-time, 40 hours week
- Temporary housing assistance may be available on a limited basis
Minimum Qualifications:
- Senior standing, currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
- GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above
- Pursuing bachelor's degree in the primary functional area of the department
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to identify and solve problems
- Strong computer proficiencies in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, with the ability to efficiently learn new technologies
- Intermediate (or better) skills in Java programming using OO concepts, Java testing, J2EE (particularly JSP and some EJB) as well as database concepts, including programming with SQL
- Ability to read UML. Ability to author UML diagrams is a plus.
- Experience with the following tools is helpful but not required: WebSphere, Eclipse IDE, CVS, JIRA, JUnit, Cactus, and Oracle
- Excellent customer service acumen
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Previous work experience is a plus
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the department intern manager you will perform a variety of responsibilities in Information Technology’s eCommerce organization that will include, but are not limited to: participate in furthering the use of continuous testing and integration for the FHEG eCommerce Software Development Team. Activities may include planning, installation, configuration, customization, and use of relevant software tools such as CruiseControl, Clover, Apache Mavin, JUnit, Selenium, HttpUnit, JMeter, LinkSys, etc. Emphasis will be on Java programming and testing using object-oriented concepts.
Educational requirement: pursuing a major in Computer Science; emphasis in Software Development preferred
