Home Office Internship Program/Data Services Engineering

Job Description:

The intern will perform assigned duties under the direction of an experienced professional, and will work in a learning environment and gain knowledge and experience that will augment his/her college education.
  • Paid, hourly, full-time, 40 hours week
  • Temporary housing assistance may be available on a limited basis

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Junior or senior standing, currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above
  • Pursuing bachelor's degree in the primary functional area of the department
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to identify and solve problems
  • Strong computer proficiencies in SQL, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point, with the ability to efficiently learn new technologies
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries and familiarity with ETL tools a plus
  • Excellent customer service acumen
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Previous work experience is a plus

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the department intern manager you will perform a variety of responsibilities that will include, but are not limited to: building central data stores and data warehouses for new customers.  This includes reviewing customer requirements, creating plans and processing data using ETL tools, loading data into defined database structures, and scheduling weekly/nightly data loads based on customer requirements.  You will also maintain central data stores and data warehouses for existing customers, including reviewing customer requirements, adjusting existing plans, creating new plans, and processing data using ETL tools.  In addition, you will prepare work for Quality Assurance review.  Finally, you will communicate all issues and concerns to the appropriate departments, including Project Management, Data Analysts, Data QA, Research and Development, and Support.

Educational requirement: pursuing a major in Management Information Systems or Computer Science.
