College Recruitment Programs

We are fortunate to serve a remarkable customer base and are proud to say that many of our best associates were once student customers. Therefore, we have built a robust college recruitment program that offers unique opportunities to college students.

We encourage students who are interested in opportunities with Follett to meet with our professionals when we participate in campus visits.

Internship Program

Your college years are a special time, packed with the excitement of learning new things. Our professionals support and enhance the college experience in every way we can through providing the products and services students need.

In a very real way, you're an expert at what you do, too. You know what it's like to be a college student in a changing educational, and technological world.

We invite you to bring that valuable experience to our paid summer Internship Programs, where you'll use every bit of your academic training, your people savvy, and your problem-solving talents while developing marketable skills in a fast-paced retail environment. Opportunities exist in our Oak Brook, Westmont and Aurora, Illinois offices as well as select retail locations.

The home office supports our stores and field staff in a variety of functions, and the departments that host interns are committed to providing their interns with hands-on experience in a supportive learning environment. Departments that have previously participated in the 10-week Home Office Internship Program have included General Merchandise Buying and Planning, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources and Marketing.

The Retail Management Internship Program is a 10-week program that teaches you the basics of the college bookstore industry and the fundamentals of retailing. Bookstores that have hosted summer interns have included the University of Florida Bookstore in Gainesville, FL; University of North Florida Bookstore in Jacksonville, FL; and Northern Arizona University Bookstore in Flagstaff, AZ.

Successful candidates for the Internship Program have junior, senior or graduate student standing and are currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Qualified participants have a GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above, demonstrated commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence, excellent customer service acumen, and superior verbal and written communication skills.

Summer internship opportunities are posted on Follett's career website at the beginning of each new year.

Job Shadow Program

Follett Higher Education Group's Job Shadow Program is a one-day event that offers students the opportunity to "shadow" FHEG professionals through a typical day on the job as well as offer valuable networking opportunities. We seek to provide Job Shadow Program participants with a supportive environment where they can meet some of the industry's top talent and cultivate a better understanding of the relationship between their educational pursuits and career objectives.

Job Shadow opportunities will be offered in FHEG's offices in the western suburbs of Chicago each January.

Job Shadow Program participants must be currently enrolled college students, junior or sophomore standing preferred, with a GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above. Students can apply to shadow professionals in all disciplines found within a corporate retail environment.

Interested students should submit their resume to jobshadow@fheg.follett.com.
