Follett Stores Partner with Declare Yourself

Follett launches voter registration initiative in partnership with Declare yourself and ABC Family Oak Brook, IL (August 1, 2008). Follett Higher Education Group and Declare Yourself have partnered to sponsor a voter registration drive and bipartisan awareness campaign at select Follett managed bookstore locations across the U.S. "With the presidential election right around the corner, campuses around the country are brimming with political debate. Follett bookstores across the country will be giving voice to both sides through this campaign with Declare Yourself, and we're excited to do our part in driving voter registration" says Thomas A. Christopher, President of Follett Higher Education Group. This campaign is intended to drive voter registration on the campuses that Follett serves and will feature election-related information and products throughout the bookstores including general reading, clothing, convenience and gift departments. Follett stores will feature a number of topical titles related to the upcoming election, including the recently released Harper Collins title Declare Yourself, which features essays on voting by 50 celebrities from the world of entertainment. Poet Maya Angelou, the band Maroon 5, Tyra Banks, Robert Ben Garrett and the editors of the internet-based fake news site The Onion are just a few of the people who have contributed essays to the book. Follett will extend this awareness campaign online, offering a free download from Declare Yourself with information about how to become a more involved, informed voter. In addition, Follett will offer an 'Election Boutique that will feature famous documents from American history including Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedys inaugural addresses, the Declaration of Independence and the Mayflower Compact. All can be found in a free ebook format at www.CafeScribe.com/DeclareYourself. Follett bookstores will also offer a free candidate reference guide. These reference guides will include information about each candidate and where they stand about the complex issues surrounding this election. As part of this awareness drive, in partnership with ABC Family, Follett will bring stars from the hit TV show Greek to select stores to help increase awareness of the campaign and drive in-store voter registration. Appearances by castmembers will occur in August and September.
